This is not a graffiti but a T-shirt. It was taken at a traditional celebration in our university. The Last Bell, believe it or not... In our university there's a bell that let everybody know it's time to start a new class or time to go home. So graduating students wait all day their last day in school for the last bell to ring. We usually have a big party in campus where music is performed and students, parents, relatives, friends, professors and academic authorities get together to celebrate El ultimo Timbre.

We call such dedicated students 'večni študenti' in Slovenia, meaning students forever. I guess the reason study often takes up so much time is the same here as in Venezuela. It's just so nice to be a student :-). Is this the same in other countries? I guess it is not if you need to work hard to be able to pay for your study.
# Posted by Natasa Božić Grojić on 28.3.2009 2:28We have "večiti studenti" in Serbia as well. People study for 8 years, 10 years or even more. I guess it is because they are allowed to do that by their parents and by the society. Some of them enjoy it, but a lot of them are depressed because they are studying something they don't like and failing your exams over and over can't make you feel well.
# Posted by Saša on 29.3.2009 19:32Hi Nataša, thanks for your comment. I haven't thought of that. It must be difficult to study something you don't like. Even if you choose to study something you like, there are usually many requirements which don't fit in the 'like' category - things you simply need to do. I guess figuring out something is not for you should count as an achievement too.

If you haven't found the job you are likely to continue to study . One of the most important reasons fot this is that study in Slovenia is cheap. Bacause of this people study for a very long time.
# Posted by Berta on 10.4.2009 0:07Hi Doris and all participating students and teachers. I could not resist posting a comment when I read this T-shirt ;-) The graduation average at USB, a public university in Venezuela which has a very tough entrance exam, is seven years, which means that some students graduate after five years and others after nine or more. We had a case of an architecture student who graduated after 25 years ... I wonder how he managed to do so.
